State & Industry Partners Clamor for TakeMeFishing.org Hotspots Map
Portable Boating and Fishing Locator Map Now Hosted on 18 Consumer Websites

ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 17, 2011) – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced that its TakeMeFishing.org Hotspots Map is now featured on 18 consumer websites, and the number of companies wanting to use it is growing. The embeddable map was originally created as part of RBFF’s unprecedented data project to improve boating and fishing access information on TakeMeFishing.org, and RBFF would like to see it on as many stakeholder sites as possible to help motivate participation in the sport.

“We don’t want anyone to miss out on this important project that makes it easier for people to get out on the water boating and fishing,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The embeddable map offers an attractive service to stakeholders’ website visitors, providing them with direct access to comprehensive boating and fishing ‘how-to’ and ‘where-to’ information on TakeMeFishing.org.”

Research shows that most participants want to find a place to boat and fish close to home, within 30 to 60 minutes. RBFF has collected more than 65,000 boating and fishing locations and is currently adding them to the Hotspots Map for users. “We’re committed to collecting as many locations as possible and making them available on TakeMeFishing.org, so people can easily plan for a day on the water,” said Peterson.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks was the first state partner to display the Hotspots Map on its site. Now several industry partners including BASS, BoatUS, Discovery Education, Field & Stream, FirstBoat.com, Outdoor Life and Trip Advisor are also using it. Most recently, the Outdoor Channel incorporated the Hotspots Map on its website, in addition to Pure Fishing, which added the Map to nine of its brand sites: Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, Mitchell, Penn, Pflueger, Shakespeare, SpiderWire and Stren.

State fish and wildlife agencies and industry partners interested in learning more about the embeddable Hotspots Map should contact RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson via e-mail or call him at (703) 519-0013.
