Arizona Joins Nationwide Effort to Increase Fishing License Sales
RBFF Fishing License Marketing Program Expands to Include E-mail & Social Media Outreach

ALEXANDRIA, VA (May 4, 2011) – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced that the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) will participate in its State Fishing License Marketing Program aimed at increasing fishing license sales nationwide. More than 30 states currently participate in the initiative, which was developed by RBFF to increase participation in the sport and generate awareness of the connection between fishing license sales and conservation efforts.

“We are delighted that Arizona has joined our Fishing License Marketing Program,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “Together, we hope to encourage anglers in their state and across the country to get back out on the water.”

“RBFF is helping forge new ground on behalf of fish and wildlife management agencies in the realm of data analysis and marketing,” said AZGFD Director Larry Voyles. “Angling and the enjoyment of our outdoor heritage has been fundamental to building healthy families and has contributed greatly to the strong character of America.  We are excited to partner with RBFF in this effort to enrich the lives of Arizonans by bring the joys of angling back into their lives.”

Launched in March 2008, the State Fishing License Marketing Program continues to integrate radio advertising and public relations support from RBFF to enhance the direct mail effort. In 2011, states have also received e-mail marketing templates and tips for using social media.

To date, 33 state partners have sold nearly 840,000 fishing licenses through the State Fishing License Marketing Program. Last year, the program led to the sale of more than 290,900 fishing licenses and permits in 31 states. Based on these results, last year’s program also contributed to fish and wildlife management efforts with more than $5.7 million in gross program revenue.
