Take Me Fishing™ Releases Update to Popular Boat Ramp App
Enhancements Include Advanced Search Functions and ‘Add a Ramp’ Feature

ALEXANDRIA, VA (June 21, 2011) – Just in time for another eventful fishing and boating season, the Take Me Fishing™ campaign is rolling out an updated version of its popular Boat Ramp application for iPhone and Android phones.

Designed to help boaters and anglers find boat ramps and marinas on-the-go from the convenience of their mobile devices, the Boat Ramp App now offers advanced search functions that allow users to search for access points by zip code, city and state, and local landmarks. Also new is an “add a ramp” feature where users can submit a ramp that may not yet be listed.

“We are thrilled that – by popular demand and based on user feedback – we are able to provide the latest and greatest version of our Boat Ramp App to boaters and anglers on-the-go,” said Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The new release makes finding boat ramps easier than ever, and gets boaters and anglers out on the water with just a quick glance at their smartphone.”

The free app, which is available in the Apple iTunes store (it’s compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad) and in the Android Marketplace, features more than 35,000 boat ramps across the country. Users will continue to enjoy the same features they have come to expect from the app: a GPS-enabled map that instantly pinpoints boat ramps and marinas for quick view as well as an option to view them in list form, with address, distance, and directions provided.

Since its release in July 2010, the Boat Ramp App has been downloaded more than 48,200 times. Earlier this June, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) awarded the app with a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation in the Smartphone Application category. In February 2011, it received an Honorable Mention in the 2011 Innovation Awards from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 70th annual Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail Miami.

Users who have already downloaded the Boat Ramp App to their mobile device will be notified by their service provider that the new release is available. Users can also download the app by scanning the iPhone or Android QR Code.
