Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation PSA Ranked in Top 1% of All PSAs
“Telepathy” PSA was honored with Top One Award from TV Access

ALEXANDRIA, VA (April 30, 2018) – Today, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced its newest television public service announcement (PSA) received a Top One Award by PSA vendor TV Access. The PSA, “Telepathy,” was in the top 1% of all PSAs aired in 2017, as reported by Nielsen Media Research.

“We are all about spreading the joys of fishing and boating to consumers across the country and encouraging conservation along the way,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We’re pleased to see so many TV stations enjoying our fun and informative PSA and placing it in front of consumers.”

Many anglers don’t know why they have to purchase a fishing license to go fishing, so this PSA aims at answering that question by linking fishing license purchases to conservation efforts. With state-specific versions being aired in addition to the national spot, it drives home the idea that buying a license improves your local waterways. PSA materials can be downloaded online. In concert with the Telepathy PSA, RBFF offers additional TV, radio and print PSAs in both English and Spanish languages.

Each year, Nielsen Media Research releases a 12-month ranking report of the top performing television PSAs. RBFF’s Telepathy PSA was among the top 1% of all PSAs ranked by placement by Nielsen Media Research and was honored with a Top One Award from PSA Vendor TV Access. In addition to being recognized with a Top One Award, the PSA has reeled in an impressive $13 million in in-kind placements from April 2017 to March 2018. In that same period, all RBFF PSAs earned a total of $18.5 million in in-kind placements in TV, print and radio channels.

About the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF)

RBFF is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase participation in recreational angling and boating, thereby protecting and restoring the nation's aquatic natural resources. RBFF's recently announced 60 in 60 effort strives to attract 60 million anglers to the sport by the end of 2021. To help recruit, retain and reactivate participants, RBFF developed the award-winning Take Me Fishing™ and Vamos A Pescar™ campaigns creating awareness about boating, fishing and conservation, and educating people about the benefits of participation. These campaigns help boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels learn, plan and equip for a day on the water. The campaign websites, TakeMeFishing.org and VamosAPescar.org, feature how-to videos, information on how to get a fishing license and boat registration, and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find local boating and fishing spots.
