Take Me Fishing Recognized as Webby Award Honoree
TakeMeFishing.org Mobile Site in Top 15% of Nearly 10,000 Entries

ALEXANDRIA, VA (May 3, 2012) – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced its Take Me Fishing campaign mobile site, TakeMeFishing.org/mobile, was selected as an Official Honoree in the Mobile Web Lifestyle (Handheld Devices) category of the 16th Annual Webby Awards. The TakeMeFishing.org mobile site, which offers on-the-go access to the site’s local ‘how to’ and ‘where to’ boating and fishing information, was recognized for excellence in the top 15 percent of all mobile work submitted.

“A Webby Award is the Internet’s most respected symbol for success, and we are honored to be recognized in the mobile category,” said RBFF President & CEO Frank Peterson. “Our mobile site was created based on consumer insights that individuals want information on the go. TakeMeFishing.org allows visitors instant access to boating and fishing tips and tricks, information on a variety of fish species, and state licensing and registration requirements right in the palm of their hands.”

Recent studies show people are spending more time than ever before on their mobile phones, further substantiating the need for an effective mobile site. In 2011, more than 50 percent of all “local” searches were done from a mobile device. Additionally it is projected that by 2014, mobile internet usage will overtake desktop internet usage in comparison.

The Webby Awards is the leading International awards honoring excellence on the Internet, including websites, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile websites. The 16th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 states and more than 60 countries worldwide. The Mobile Web category has been noted as one of the most exciting avenues for content, services and commerce. This recognition puts RBFF in an esteemed group of mobile winners such as CNN, eBay, Food Network Magazine, National Geographic, The New York Times, Nickelodeon, Redbox, Staples, Sports Illustrated, Walgreens, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Online, and Yahoo!.

RBFF launched the TakeMeFishing.org mobile site in February 2011 to support the Take Me Fishing campaign mission to be the premier online destination for boaters and anglers to learn, plan and equip for a day on the water. The website and its digital properties drew nearly seven million visits last year.
