RBFF Receives Honorable Mention in 2011 Miami Boat Show Innovation Awards

February 2011 – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) was honored for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 70th annual Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail Miami. RBFF received an Honorable Mention in the 2011 Innovation Awards for its state-of-the-art Take Me Fishing Boat Ramp App.

Introduced in July 2010, the mobile app features an interactive map showcasing the nearest boat ramps and also allows users to manually search based on zip code or city. The app’s technology supports a database of more than 35,000 ramps across all 50 states and offers turn-by-turn directions to each location.

“We’re extremely proud to have received this honor,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “It demonstrates that we’re providing a product that boaters and anglers consider beneficial. We continually strive to be the go-to resource for this audience by providing useful tools and information just like the Boat Ramp App.”

Available for free in the iTunes Store and Droid Market, the Take Me Fishing Boat Ramp App has been downloaded more than 27,000 times to date and has helped countless boaters and anglers locate the best launch points for their excursions without hassle.

RBFF received recognition in the Consumer Electronics and Software category as one of 12 companies honored during NMMA’s State of the Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast held this morning at the Miami Beach Convention Center. A panel of seven industry experts reviewed entries in nine unique categories for innovative distinction from same-category products, marine industry benefit potential, practicality of use and cost effectiveness.
