Feedback Needed From Members and Coaches of Programs Serving High School-Aged Anglers
New survey now open for responses

ALEXANDRIA, VA (November 1, 2018) – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF), in cooperation with the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) and Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), is seeking former and current members, coaches, advisors, volunteers, and sponsors of high school fishing clubs and programs to participate in a nationwide survey. This survey is being conducted by Southwick Associates and all responses and identities will remain fully confidential.

With the focus on developing lifelong participants, the sportfishing community has implemented many strategies to recruit, retain and reactivate (R3) anglers. Fishing clubs, teams, and programs for high school students are a rapidly growing part of the picture, and RBFF, B.A.S.S. and FLW are working to determine how to set these programs up for success. While thousands of youth are participating, the needs and success of these efforts are not known. This survey will provide the insights needed to best manage and help support programs serving high school-aged anglers.

“Our 2018 Special Report on Fishing showed that fishing participation was nearly non-existent when the individual was not introduced to the activity before the age of 18,” said RBFF President & CEO Frank Peterson. “That’s why programs that focus on creating anglers at younger ages is so critical. We’re happy to partner with B.A.S.S. and FLW on making youth fishing programs even better than they are today.”

All former and current members, coaches, advisors, volunteers, and sponsors of fishing clubs for high school students are encouraged to participate in the survey. This survey is being conducted by Southwick Associates and all responses and identities will remain fully confidential. You will not be contacted as a result of taking this survey.

Please take the survey today.

About the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF)

RBFF is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase participation in recreational angling and boating, thereby protecting and restoring the nation's aquatic natural resources. RBFF's recently announced 60 in 60 effort strives to attract 60 million anglers to the sport by the end of 2021. To help recruit, retain and reactivate participants, RBFF developed the award-winning Take Me Fishing™ and Vamos A Pescar™ campaigns creating awareness about boating, fishing and conservation, and educating people about the benefits of participation. These campaigns help boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels learn, plan and equip for a day on the water. The campaign websites, TakeMeFishing.org and VamosAPescar.org, feature how-to videos, information on how to get a fishing license and boat registration, and an interactive state-by-state map that allows visitors to find local boating and fishing spots.
