ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 21, 2009) – Visitors to TakeMeFishing.org can now take advantage of special discounts at boat, fishing and sportshows across the country. The promotion, which includes detailed show listings and links, was launched on December 15, 2008. In its first 15 days online, the section attracted nearly 5,000 unique visitors.
“Knowing that these shows successfully attract qualified prospects and serve as an important source of information for prospective buyers, we wanted to leverage the success we’ve experienced with TakeMeFishing.org to help promote them,” said RBFF President & CEO Frank Peterson. “We hope by offering admission discounts, we will drive more people to the shows, increase participation in boating and fishing, and generate critical funds for conservation.”
TakeMeFishing.org was re-launched in April 2008 with a new look and feel and interactive features to keep visitors engaged. In its first 10 months, the site has attracted two million unique visitors.
“Boat, sport and fishing shows are vital for the recreational boating and fishing industry’s ability to directly reach customers and enthusiasts,” said RBFF Board Chairman and National Marine Manufacturers Association President Thom Dammrich. “Leveraging TakeMeFishing.org to communicate online with potential attendees is an excellent way to expand how we promote these shows, ultimately helping us grow Americans’ passion for boating and fishing.”
Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA) President Phil Keeter agrees. “The boat shows are where dealers garner their prospect list for the year,” he said. “Attendees are interested in the boating lifestyle and are prime prospects to purchase a boat in the near future. It’s wonderful to see all parts of the industry come together to promote boating and fishing. RBFF’s effort to encourage attendance at these shows is welcome.”
This special discount promotion enhances TakeMeFishing.org’s existing event section, where stakeholders can also register other national or local events in a searchable database. RBFF encourages stakeholders who host shows to get involved by submitting their show details, discount offers, link and logo to RBFF Online Strategies Manager Maria Knight.
RBFF is a nonprofit organization established in 1998 to increase participation in recreational angling and boating. RBFF helps people discover, share and protect the legacy of boating and fishing through national outreach programs including the Take Me Fishing™ campaign and Anglers’ Legacy™.
