Colorado Angler Wins Disney World Fishing Trip through BASS Anglers' Legacy Sweepstakes
Winner Selected from Thousands of Entries across the Country

ALEXANDRIA, VA (December 11, 2007) – Jerry Corwin of Northglenn, Colo. was chosen from nearly 15,000 entries as the grand prize winner of the BASS Anglers’ Legacy Sweepstakes. Corwin, who takes home a trip to Disney World and a fishing excursion with Bassmaster Magazine Editor James Hall, entered the sweepstakes online after seeing a Web banner about the promotion. Corwin says he was very surprised when he got the news.

BASS AL Sweepstakes Winner Jerry Corwin“I’m just absolutely thrilled,” he said. “I love fishing, but have not been able to go a lot lately.” Corwin hopes to take the trip this spring with his wife, Marilyn, who was “jumping up and down” with excitement about the win.

"BASS appreciates Jerry and his awareness of the importance of growing the sport of bass fishing," said James Hall, editor of Bassmaster Magazine. "The Disney lakes always provide anglers with a first-class experience and I'm looking forward to a fantastic time."

BASS launched the sweepstakes in April 2007 as a way to help drive enrollment in the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation’s (RBFF) Anglers’ Legacy program and further grow the sport. Through new member and renewal kit inserts, Web banners and advertisements in Bassmaster Magazine, BASS encouraged anglers to “Take the Pledge” at AnglersLegacy.org and use a special code when entering.

Corwin, who says he’s about four-and-a-half years from retirement, plans to take his grandchildren fishing to fulfill his Anglers’ Legacy Pledge. Fishing has been a great legacy in Corwin’s family.

“My father taught me how to fish and I taught my daughter,” he said. “My grandchildren seem to have a ton of friends and they always want to bring someone along, so I’ll start by teaching them.”

“Anglers’ Legacy is about sharing the sport, and we’re happy to reward someone who believes in the legacy.” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We heartily congratulate Jerry on his big win and know that he and his family will enjoy sharing time on the water.”

Anglers’ Legacy was launched in May 2006 targeting the country’s estimated 7.5 million avid anglers. Through media ads and coverage, pro-angler involvement and industry partnerships, the campaign asks avid anglers to share their passion for fishing and drives them to AnglersLegacy.org where they’re asked to “Take the Pledge” – promising to take one new person fishing each year. To date, more than 20,000 anglers have signed on.
