RBFF Launches Web’s Largest Database of Fishing & Boating Spots
New & Improved TakeMeFishing.org Offers 10,000 Searchable Listings

ALEXANDRIA, VA (April 10, 2007) — The Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced the launch of a new and improved TakeMeFishing.org Web site with an expanded ‘Where to Fish and Boat’ locator that identifies places to fish and boat in all 50 states. With a database of more than 10,000 locations, visitors can search for places to fish and boat that are close to home or far away and have access to all the information they’ll need to quickly and easily plan a day on the water.

RBFF is encouraging its stakeholders to take advantage of the enhanced Web site and make sure their business, club or organization is listed.

“TakeMeFishing.org now hosts the Web’s largest database of fishing and boating spots, along with an unprecedented complement of how-to information,” said RBFF President Frank Peterson. “Our goal is to get one million unique visitors this year and together, with the help of our stakeholders, we believe the site will serve as the best all around fishing and boating resource.”

New Features on TakeMeFishing.org

The ‘Where to Fish and Boat’ feature lets visitors search the Take Me Fishing database for destinations located within a short drive of any city or zip code. Search results are compiled and paired with fishing license information, local regulations, fishing reports and other local fishing and boating information, all on one page.

To help families plan a day of fishing, TakeMeFishing.org tapped the expertise of state wildlife agencies and outdoor writers to identify the top three destinations located near major cities across the country. Each of these places is designated as a Family Friendly Hot Spot. These places to fish and boat are close enough for a day trip and offer conveniences for families, including parking, bathrooms, shore access, boat ramps and an abundance of fish. Each Family Friendly Hot Spot entry provides detailed information about the location.

TakeMeFishing.org also offers visitors a wealth of information on a variety of fishing and boating topics, including:

  • Convenient access facilities, such as launch ramps, marinas and fishing piers
  • Services, including charter operators, boat sales and rentals, fishing retailers and bait and tackle shops
  • Educational information, including how to choose the right boat, where to take boating safety courses and links to local fishing organizations
  • The Kids’ Fishing Hall of Fame section, where parents, grandparents and friends can share kids’ fishing experiences and photos with friends and family across the country and around the world.
