RBFF Promotes Anglers’ Legacy at Northwest Sportshow
Organization Leading the Industry Charge to Increase Participation in Boating & Fishing Encourages Attendees to “Take the Pledge”

ALEXANDRIA, VA (March 31, 2008) – The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) today announced they will exhibit at the Northwest Sportshow being held April 2 - 6, 2008 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Promoting the organization’s Anglers’ Legacy program, RBFF staff will be on hand to encourage attendees to “Take the Pledge” and provide information about how to preserve the resource by introducing a newcomer to the sport of fishing. RBFF is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources for the event and will be stationed within their booth.

“The Northwest Sportshow allows us to reach a large group of boaters and anglers who can help us increase participation in both sports by signing on to our Anglers’ Legacy program,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We’re pleased to be exhibiting with the Minnesota DNR at this year’s event and hope to collect hundreds, if not thousands, of Anglers’ Legacy Pledges.”

Northwest Sportshow attendees will have the opportunity to board hundreds of boats. They will also find gear and accessories for every outdoor activity imaginable including boating, fishing, hunting, RVing and camping. Special attractions include the National Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame’s world record muskie, fishing seminars and casting demonstrations.

Anglers’ Legacy, which was launched in May 2006, encourages avid anglers to share their passion for boating and fishing and to visit AnglersLegacy.org, where they're asked to "Take the Pledge" – promising to take at least one new person fishing each year. To date, the program has collected nearly 40,000 Pledges, which according to an RBFF survey of participants conducted in 2007, means it may have already generated $4.8 million for the fishing industry, $6.64 million for the boating industry and the sale of more than 84,000 new fishing licenses.
