ALEXANDRIA, VA (July 28, 2009) – Hundreds of marinas across the U.S. will celebrate National Marina Day on August 8, 2009, hosting events that highlight the important role the marina industry plays in cities and towns across the nation. RBFF is promoting this nationwide event on TakeMeFishing.org and reminding stakeholders of the resources available to them to enhance their facilities’ events.

“We’re pleased to help promote this important event that will highlight the recreational, environmental and social contributions marinas make to waterfront communities each year,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “We encourage marinas to take advantage of all the great resources available on TakeMeFishing.org to help enhance their events.”

Marinas can register their events for free publicity on TakeMeFishing.org. RBFF also offers free event-planning and educational tools in the Take Me Fishing™ Event Planning Kit and Passport to Fishing & Boating Program, which are both available for download online.

“Fishing and boating go hand in hand and both sports rely on marinas as access points to prime waters so it made sense to partner with RBFF to promote and enhance National Marina Day,” said Association of Marina Industries (AMI) U.S. Legislative Coordinator and RBFF Board Member Wendy Larimer.

National Marina Day was established in 2001 by AMI. Facilities across the country host a wide variety of events including complimentary cruises, children’s activities, environmental demonstrations, fishing rodeos and boating safety demonstrations.
