ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 27, 2010) – The Anglers’ Legacy program is introducing new print public service announcements (PSAs), the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced today. The PSAs contain dynamic and relevant new images and messaging, which reflect the program’s increased efforts to mobilize America’s avid boaters and anglers to introduce newcomers to the sport. Outdoor enthusiasts will be encouraged to ‘make a promise that’s easy to keep’ and take someone new fishing. The new full page PSAs are available in three creative concepts, each with a separate theme; memories made with friends, passing down the legacy to new generations, and the importance of conservation and protecting our waterways.

“We are pleased to announce new PSAs for our Anglers’ Legacy program, which have a stronger tie to our award-winning Take Me Fishing™ campaign,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “The PSAs contain new creative elements that will resonate with those who love to boat and fish. We hope they inspire more people to join the program and also serve as a tool for our partners to help grow participation in boating and fishing.”

The Anglers’ Legacy program aims to increase first-time boating and fishing experiences and has recruited nearly 200,000 Ambassadors nationwide since its inception in May 2006. Based on a recent RBFF survey, when Ambassadors introduce newcomers to the sport, they purchase an additional $168 in fishing tackle and equipment and $166 in boating supplies and accessories annually. They also purchase more than two fishing licenses which support critical fish and wildlife management efforts through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
