Sponsorships for the RBFF State Marketing Workshop help cover expenses so all states participate without the cost being a barrier, and they allow RBFF to produce a world-class event. Industry and Association sponsors who have attended past Workshops have noted the value they received learning more about state agencies’ R3 efforts.
This annual Workshop brings together representatives from all 50 state fish and wildlife agencies, the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other NGOs and federal agencies to learn more about the importance of customer engagement and recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3) strategies to increase fishing license sales and boat registrations.
As in years past, we encourage all states to send two representatives: the agency’s assistant director overseeing R3 efforts and the marketing/communications director or lead for R3 programs. We also extend a special invitation to the agency Director to attend as a third in-person attendee.
An ever-increasing number of Americans continue to pursue recreational fishing. According to RBFF and The Outdoor Foundation’s 2023 Special Report on Fishing, 54.5 million Americans ages 6+ fished in 2022, marking an increase of 2.1 million over 2021. We see consistently high numbers in angler recruitment, with 14.2 million new and returning anglers participating in 2022. However, the 12 million lost participants in 2022 erase most of those gains. Working together, we can address retention to support the health of fishing & boating.
It takes engagement from state agencies and partners to effectively reach anglers and boaters to enhance and continue their participation. To support these efforts, RBFF is excited to once again host the State Marketing Workshop in February 2024 in Atlanta, GA. The State Marketing Workshop is a critical component of RBFF’s strategy to assist state agencies in enhancing their marketing and communications capacities.
Themed Navigating the Future of Angler and Boater R3, all 50 state agencies and D.C. are invited to collaborate and share innovative R3 ideas to engage consumers and create lifelong participants.
There will be a packed agenda with presentations, including:
• Updates on recruitment, retention, and reactivation work
• Success stories from state agencies
• Latest on new consumer trends, including social media
• Keynote presentation from Shama Hyder, a visionary strategist for the digital age, a web and T.V. personality, a bestselling author, and the award-winning CEO of Zen Media – a global marketing and digital P.R. firm.
This unique meeting presents an opportunity to support the mission of RBFF while gaining access to influential state agency R3 and marketing personnel and Directors. As a sponsor of the Workshop, your company’s name will be at the forefront of the minds of our state participants as a supporting partner in their mission to increase participation in recreational angling and boating. Use the State Marketing Workshop to begin conversations, network, and reinforce your brand awareness within the fishing and boating community.
