Anglers’ Legacy Featured at ISE Events in Sacramento & Denver

ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 13, 2009) – Anglers’ Legacy will be featured at International Sportsmen’s Exposition (ISE) events in Sacramento and Denver this month, the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) announced today. ISE, which has more than 30 years experience producing America's premier fishing and outdoor shows, will encourage boaters and anglers at their Sacramento, Calif. Expo (Jan. 15-18) and Denver, Colo. Expo (Jan. 22-25) to “Take the Pledge” and introduce at least one newcomer to the sport of fishing. ISE staff will promote Anglers’ Legacy on their Web site, pursue local radio opportunities to promote the program, and run video public service announcements (PSAs) during the events. Two individuals who have taken the Anglers’ Legacy Pledge on-site will be chosen each day to receive Voltaeus rod and reel combos, courtesy of Shimano.

“We are delighted to have an Anglers’ Legacy presence at ISE shows for the second consecutive year,” said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. “ISE joins a growing list of partners who are committed to preserving the legacy of the sport and making sure future generations participate in boating and fishing.”

“The Anglers’ Legacy program works: it creates new anglers,” said ISE Director of Communications John Kirk. “The program comes complete with all the necessary resources and is easily implemented. ISE is eager to partner with RBFF in an effort to grow the number of anglers and therefore customers for our exhibitors and the industry.”

Anglers’ Legacy, a program aimed at increasing first-time boating and fishing experiences, has signed on more than 85,000 Ambassadors nationwide since its inception in May 2006. Based on a recent RBFF survey, Ambassadors purchase approximately $140 in fishing tackle and equipment, $153 in boating supplies and accessories, and more than three fishing licenses which support critical fish and wildlife management efforts through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.
