ALEXANDRIA, VA (September 22, 2009), the premier destination to learn, plan and equip for a day on the water, debuted new fly fishing content this month. Tried and true fly fishing techniques, must-have equipment, need-to-know tips and tricks are now available for those who fly fish or want to learn how.

“Recent research shows us that nearly six million people participate in fly fishing, making 100 million outings each year,” said Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) President and CEO Frank Peterson. “In an effort to continually improve the content on and keep it relevant for boaters and anglers of all ages and experience levels, we’re happy to expand our fishing section with detailed fly fishing information.”

New fly fishing content on the site includes:

  • Where to Fly Fish – find out where fish rest, hide or feed
  • Fly Fishing Gear – learn about fly rods, reels, lines, leaders and tippet
  • Fishing Flies – discover the best fishing flies, starter flies and what fish eat
  • Fly Casting -  get the basics and learn the roll cast, two-stroke cast, tight and open loop casts with interactive visuals
  • Tips and Tricks – learn the tricks of the trade
  • Q & A – find answers to common fly fishing questions

“We’re delighted that RBFF has added new fly fishing content to,” said American Fly Fishing Trade Association (AFFTA) Chairman Alan Gnann. “We hope it will serve as a great resource for the fly fishing community and inspire newcomers to get involved in our sport.” is the centerpiece of the national Take Me Fishing campaign. The site earned national recognition in 2009 with awards from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Web Marketing Association.
