A Message from RBFF President Frank Peterson on COVID-19

RBFF to Promote Fishing & Boating Resources to Consumers & Support Stakeholders with Outreach

By Frank Peterson

With each day comes new information and new closures related to COVID-19 including some areas where people access the water. RBFF, like you, is dealing with important decisions around how and when to communicate with its customers. We’re all in the same boat. And we want to help.

We believe during this challenging time, it’s a good to provide our consumers with resources and information from TakeMeFishing.org to support good health and safety while social distancing. Things like local fishing (where available), online learning and prepping for the upcoming season, and creating awareness of the do’s and don’ts of family interaction outdoors. We also want to be sensitive to ‘clogging up the news cycle’ with unwanted information and be empathetic to those dealing with the virus directly. We’ve been quiet in our consumer-facing communication channels for several days, but soon you’ll begin to see some of this information from our brand. *Note: This content is subject to change day-by-day as new information emerges.

For stakeholders, we will provide the following resources:

  • General guidelines for marketing and communicating during this worldwide crisis
  • Examples of state agency, Federal agency and fishing/boating industry communication outreach that we believe follows best practices
  • Sample social posts that have been tested and vetted by our own team
  • Links to companies you can follow to receive timely tips for your marketing and communication outreach
